"What you do speaks so loudly

that I cannot hear what you say."

Ralph Waldo Emerson's widely heard and less-often practiced adage finds a home in the ministry of singer/songwriter and concert/recording artist Matthew Blagg.

We all share many of the same challenges, joys and heartaches no matter our origin. At the very least, we all want to be loved and accepted. Christ created that void, and only His love will satisfy it. While that's pretty simple, sometimes it's hard to see clearly. Matthew's mission is to help people see Christ through an authentic life, communicated through music.

"Real people need real people to show them a real God," says Matthew. "People hide themselves behind an invisible wall for reasons unknown. Meeting people where they are, like Christ did, and showing them that Christianity is not a set of rules but a real lifestyle, can break down those walls. When people experience the love of God, through Christ, their lives will change forever."

Today, audiences are searching for entertainment that encourages. Matthew delivers a unique blend of soul and country that does just that. He provides wholesome family entertainment with humor and poignant songs that get right to the heart of things. His songs touch people because they're about reality. Real life, real challenges and a real God who can help us get through it all with joy in our hearts.

Since 1988 Matthew has brought this message of a real God to audiences across the nation. His upbeat, professionally produced concerts showcase his uplifting message through his soulful voice and exciting trumpeting.

His unique fusion of musical styles, combined with a down-to earth personality, make Matthew a dynamic and engaging performer that bridges all ages. He has entertained small groups as well as audiences of thousands; he has performed in pristine concert halls and large convention centers as well as quiet country chapels and everything in between.

Matthew has opened for widely known artists including Margaret Becker, First Call, Kenny Marks, Cindy Morgan, NewSong, Paul Smith and Petra's John Schlitt. He also is a featured performer at Baptist Fall Festival of Marriage events and Bill Glass Prison Ministries.

His musical talent makes Matthew a much sought-after contributor in the music industry. He has played with the Temptations, The Four Tops, Tommy Dorsey Big Band, and has appeared at the W.C. Handy Blues Awards in Memphis. He's been a guest at B.B. King's blues club in Memphis as well recorded at the House of Blues recording studio.

Matthew's first album "What This Means," released in 1992, produced the nationally-known chorus, "Search Me Lord." Since then he has released four albums: "Little Horn, Big God (live)," "Echoes," and two albums celebrating traditional gospel hymns.

In the end, it's not the bright lights of stardom Matthew seeks. It's serving the Lord. "I'm not an evangelist. I'm not a rock star. I'm a musician and I'm a Christian," says Matthew." And just like a Christian lawyer, plumber or businessman, I want to go out into the world and be salt and light. That's my purpose."
